The remaining members of The Scotchplainsmen and friends will be playing at “A Tribute to Pat DiNizio” the afternoon of Sunday February 25, at Crossroads in Garwood NJ. 100% of the proceeds from the event will go to Pat’s mother. Don’t miss this special afternoon of music.
Local New Jersey music paper the Aquarian Weekly featured Pat DiNizio on the cover of its 2017 year end issue. It’s a bittersweet tribute as the Aquarian is the same paper Pat placed an ad in back in late 1979 looking for a band, Dennis Diken responded, and the rest is Smithereens’ musical history.
Scott Stantis’ Prickly City comic strip paid tribute to Pat DiNizio in his December 27, 2017 comic strip. In the past, Prickly City would always acknowledged Pat’s birthday on October 12.

Patrick M. DiNizio “Pat” (October 12, 1955 – December 12, 2017) Patrick M. DiNizio, 62, of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away on December 12, 2017. For the past 37 years, Pat was the principal songwriter, guitarist and lead vocalist for the platinum recording artists The Smithereens.
